Titans East Special: What Could Have Been....
Uh, "Run-in"? No, Vic, I skimmed that particular Supergirl issue. More like "attempted rape and domestic battery".
In my last post, in my review of TITANS EAST SPECIAL#1, I questioned why Cyborg would recruit a stalker and attempted rapist like Power Boy on their team. Then I had a great idea:What if that recruitment drive had been, at least in part, a "sting" operation, in which the object of the exercise above wasn't just to test Power Boy, but to bring him to justice once and for all? And what if, in addition to the heroes shown here, we saw people like Wally, Donna, Raven, Gar, Cassie, Kyle Rayner, and even Supergirl herself (aka "the big guns"), along with a large squad of reserves like, say, Red Star, waiting in the wings to take him down?
But I guess that wouldn't be as original as needlessly killing off a bunch of B- and C-List characters, because, Lord knows, that never happens in the current DC comics.
(Special thanks goes to "Starman" Matt Morrison, who also possesses the world's coolest Livejournal icon.)

It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure it works. A lot of the problem is the way Power Boy was dropped from Supergirl as soon as he'd done his creepy stalker rape attack thing.
Kara goes off to have other adventures and other writers, and Power Boy disappears from sight. There's no repercussions. And yet somehow Cyborg finds out about it. And if Cyborg knows, who else does?
Now I'd just like you to consider what happens when Superman finds out that this guy tried to rape his cousin, regardless of whether she considered the matter closed.
I don't think he'd be suggesting a game of tag, or any complicated plot scenario. I'm seeing more of a quiet one on one.
Okay, not so quiet.
If Superman had found out, the Phantom Zone would have had another occupant.
