Friday Night Fights: Sugar Ray - Round One: In Which Spidey Goes The Full Fonzarelli!

Greetings! It's time for Friday Night Fights: Sugar Ray, the latest bout from our host, Spacebooger. (Although why he's naming a bout after a marginal 90's pop band is beyond me.) For our first round, I thought I'd demonstrate how topical references often made their way into our favorite superhero comics, even as far back as 1977. For example, this story from Marvel Team-Up#67, written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by John Byrne and Dave Hunt, features a linguistic tie-in to a popular Garry Marshall sitcom that was at peak popularity at the time this comic came out.

Synopsis: Spider-Man has just saved Tigra's life. Unfortunately, he got trampled by a herd of animals to do so. While Tigra is tending to him, the person whom Spidey saved Tigra from, namely Kraven The Hunter, has recovered and is about to take advantage of the two heroes' distraction.

Let's see how that works out for him, shall we?

Kraven, you're such a Potsie!

Tonight's fight music is from the TV series of the same era that also featured the full Fonzarelli.
