Friday Night Fights: Sugar Ray - Round Two: Out Of This World Wolverine Abuse!

Well, I won last week's opening round of Friday Night Fights: Sugar Ray with one of my favorite things: Late 70's John Byrne art. So for tonight, I've decided to go to the late 70's Byrne well one more time with this interstellar embroglio from Uncanny X-Men#108, pencilled and co-plotted by Byrne and written by Chris Claremont. But this time, I'm also adding two more of my favorite things:

A.) Late 70's Terry Austin inks,

and

B.) Wolverine abuse.

Synopsis: The X-Men are on Shi'Ar and, along with the Starjammers, are trying to get access to the M'Kraan Crystal so they can accomplish the minor task of saving all existence. There's one problem, though:

The crystal has its own guardian.

Doesn't look like much, does he?

So of course Marvel's favorite cash cow, sporting an outfit he...liberated from Timber Wolf Fang when the X-Men fought the Legion Of Super-Heroes Shi'Ar Imperial Guard in the previous issue, is the first one to get cocky.

Oh, lighten up, Scott! What's the worst that could happen?

Oh, that.

Hh. Turns out Cyclops actually was right this time.

In honor of Mr. Overexposed getting knocked sky-high, tonight's classic is this high-altitude number by Jigsaw. (No, not the movie serial killer or the Punisher villain.)

Sometimes, you just have to have Wolverine getting his behind handed to him. A little like Batman being slapped around. It doesn't happen too often...but is always appreciated.
