Friday Night Fights: Power Punch - Round 5: More Cowbell!

Tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Power Punch, we're getting a little....spiritual, courtesy of DC Comics Presents#24, written by Len Wein and superbly illustrated by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez.

Synopsis: Government scientist Alex Atley invented a device called the Cardialink to try to stabilize his erratic heart and extend his life by synching his heartbeat with Earth's pulse. Unfortunately, the link is flowing the wrong way, causing massive earthquakes. While Superman locates the half of the device at the Earth's core to shut it off, Deadman enters Atley's body to help him stave off dying, and gets some resistance from the Grim Reaper himself.

Ok, so technically, you may not be able to "knock out" Death, but that punch did drive him away.

Tonight's fight music is....what else could it be?

And as a special bonus, I give you another treat from that same issue: Garcia-Lopez' Dr. Jenet Klyburn.

Friday Night Fights: Power Punch - Round 4: Whirlwind Knockout!

Welcome to Friday Night Fights: Power Punch, where our host Spacebooger requires each round end in a knockout punch. Tonight's cyclonic KO comes from a surprise source, courtesy of Avengers#139 by Steve Englehart, George Tuska, and Vince Colletta, and it will leave you spinning.

Synopsis: With Wasp in the hospital in a coma, Whirlwind makes repeated attempts to kidnap her and kill her husband Hank "Yellowjacket" Pym, leading Hank to turn the tables and confront the spinning supervillain. Trouble is, Pym still has a microbe in his bloodstream that causes him intense pain whenever he uses his size-changing powers for too long. Which, Hank being Hank, he does here.

But just as YJ is about to get squashed....

.....it's Beast time!

The fight music for tonight's rotational round comes from Wire Train.
