Friday Night Fights: Wildcat - Round 8: Thunder And Lightning!

For tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Wildcat, I'm bringing the Thunder...and the Lightning.

Tonight's thunderous throwdown comes from Superman#303, written by Gerry Conway and drawn by Curt Swan and Bob Oksner. Synopsis: Superman tries to stop two new villains named Lightning and Thunder from stealing some S.T.A.R. Labs meteorological equipment so their boss, the Whirlicane (just roll with it), can use it to unleash a massive monsoon squall in Metropolis (again, just roll with it).

(SPOILER: Lightning and Thunder are the same guy morphing into each persona.)

Thunder attacks and Big Blue demonstrates why Curt Swan is one of Superman's most revered artists.

TRAAAKOWWW!

Tonight's fight music is this tempestuous tuneage by Thin Lizzy.

Friday Night Fights: Wildcat - Round 7: Flash BANG!

This past week I bought the "Chain Lightning" arc of The Flash. Spoiler: It was amazing!

So for tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Wildcat, here's one of my favorite super-speed skirmishes from the arc, courtesy of The Flash#148, written by Mark Waid and Brian Augustyn and illustrated by Paul Pelletier and Vince Russell. Synopsis: Cobalt Blue aka Malcolm Thawne aka Professor Zoom's ancestor aka Barry Allen's evil secret twin brother (just roll with it) has implemented his plan to destroy all past, present, and future Flashes by dispatching a powerful magic gem to his descendents, who use it to target all subsequent Scarlet Speedsters. The reigning Flash at the time, Wally West, has assembled his speedster allies to travel through time and warn those Flashes and help them fend off the Thawne's descendents' attacks. Meanwhile, Wally has tracked the gem and wants to steal it away. Unfortunately for Wally, so does Zoom.

THWAM! And down goes Zoom!

Tonight's flashy fight music is by Steely Dan.

Friday Night Fights: Wildcat - Round 6: They Call Him "Bruce"!

For tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Wildcat we begin with a glimpse into the lifestyles of Gotham City's rich and famous, courtesy of Batman#287, written by David V. Reed and illustrated by Mike Grell and Bob Wiacek.

And here is our hero in his playboy persona.

But an uneventful exit is just not in the cards for Gotham's favorite one-percenter and...

Bruce checks out the disturbance and finds his suspicions confirmed....

and decides this is a job for....

.....Bruce Wayne????

You know you've just witnessed a 70's Mike Grell beating when the losing combatant's back is knocked into a...very painful position!

Bruce...uh,..I mean brace...yourself for tonight's appropriately-named fight music by Rick Springfield.

Friday Night Fights: Wildcat - Round 5: Cowboys And Vampires!

For tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Wildcat, I'm giving you a matchup you don't see every day: Cowboys vs. vampires!

Tonight's fanged funfest is brought to you by Dracula Lives#17 by Tony Isabella and Tony DeZuniga. Synopsis: An aging ex-sheriff-turned-bounty-hunter has been hired by a rich old man to hunt and kill the vampires who killed the old man's son. The trail leads the bounty hunter (identified in this story as only "The Marshal"), straight to Castle Dracula. After dispatching some vampire flunkies and the beautiful vampire the son had been pursuing, the Marshal turns his attention to ol' Vlad himself. But then Drac surprises the Marshal (and us) with some cunning legalese:

The Marshal pauses to reflect upon the Lord Of The Vampires' legal advice...

...before deciding to do this.

Wait, is he turning his back on ol' Drac?

Eat silver buckshot, Count!

Turns out, the Marshal had found a little legal loophole of his own.

In honor of tonight's vampiric vanquishing, tonight's fright music comes courtesy of the Arctic Monkeys.
