Friday Night Fights: Battlin' Jack - Round 3: Cloudy With A Chance Of Spidey!

For tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Battlin' Jack, I'm going to cloud things up a little, courtesy of Amazing Spider-Man#13 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Synopsis: Quentin Beck, a former stuntman, framed Spider-Man for a series of bank robberies, then defeated Spidey on live TV in his own guise of Mysterio, thereby setting himself up as a hero in the eyes of New Yorkers. Here, the Wall-Crawler tracks him down for a rematch. But of course, like a stereotypical James Bond villain, Mysterio stupidly lets Spidey coax him into revealing his plans.

And here he learns why you never disclose your plans to Spider-Man.

And here ol' Mysty uses the same cloud tricks that let him defeat Spidey before. But this time our Web-Head is prepared.

And eventually.....

How hard does Spidey's punch connect with ol' Fishbowl-Head?

THAT hard!

Tonight's fight song comes from Under The Influence Of Giants, a band to whom fellow FNF'er Snell once introduced me.

Friday Night Fights: Battling Jack - Round Two: Putting Your Heads Together!

Tonight's round of Friday Night Fights: Battling Jack features some classic Batman head-knocking courtesy of Detective Comics#430, written by Frank Robbins and illustrated by Bob Brown and Nick Cardy.

Tonight's synopsis is short and sweet: The Dark Knight tries to thwart a mob hit. Let's see if he succeeds, shall we?

Looks like they have the drop on our hero. Or do they?

And so the Caped Crusader proves the classic scientific principle: Two heads CHONK better than one.

Underscoring tonight's lesson in duality is this special fight song by Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock.

Friday Night Fights: Battlin' Jack - Round 1: Graveyard Smash!

Welcome to our host Spacebooger's latest bout: Friday Night Fights: Battling Jack, named after "Battling Jack" Murdock himself. And what better way to kick off this round than with ol' Jack's son, Matt?

Tonight's nocturnal knockdown-dragout comes from Daredevil#158 by Roger McKenzie, Frank Miller, and Klaus Janson. Synopsis: Matt Murdock has been kidnapped by minions of Death-Stalker, which leads to a showdown between the deadly villain and Matt's alter ego, Daredevil. The trick is that D-S can move in and out of phase with time, rendering him intangible at will. Let's see if DD can get around that, shall we?

Uh-oh! He has our horn-headed hero! Or does he?

And down goes Death-Stalker!

Tonight's fight music is this stalkerish song by Urge Overkill.

Friday Night Fights: "No Mas!" Prize Fight - Paste Pot Pete Prevents A Pasting!

Welcome to tonight's special Friday Night Fights Prize Fight, entitled "No Mas!". Our humble host Spacebooger has given us one additional rule this time around: It must be a fight scene where the loser gives up before being beaten too badly.

Tonight's surrender-laden slugfest comes to us courtesy of Fantastic Four#218, written by Bill Mantlo and illustrated by John Byrne and Joe Sinnott. Synopsis: The Frightful Four have captured Spider-Man, invaded the Baxter Building, and taken down the Human Torch, the Thing, and the Invisible Girl ("Woman" would come later). They are in the midst of doing the same to Mr. Fantastic when a certain newly-escaped Wall-Crawler comes to the rescue...

And here is where it all starts going south for Bentley Wittman and his crew.

It gets worse when Reed joins in.

"Sucks" to be you, Sandman!

Ok, so that's two of the Frightful Four down, but...no one has actually given up yet. Both Sandy and the Witless Wingless Wizard went down fighting. so......who will provide our "no mas" moment?

Could it be....Electro?

It's actually not Electro. To be fair, he did beg Spidey to stop spinning him, but....

....he didn't exactly get spared a beatdown.

That leaves the Trapster, who sees the writing on the wall and tries to get the heck out of Dodge, or at least the Baxter Building. But, well, guess who's gone and recovered? Oh, and did I mention that ol' Traps once went by another name?

According to tonight's rules the loser gives up to avoid being beaten too badly. Our ever-loving blue-eyed Mr. Grimm is even kind enough to explain what the former Paste Pot has in store for him if he attempts to resist.

So, what's it gonna be, Traps?

I've consulted with our host himself and he says.....fainting counts! Ladies and gentlemen, we have our "No Mas"!

Tonight's fight music is......well, were you honestly expecting anything else?
